I come to this convention with my heart in my hands, filled with pride about my country and its promises to our young people, and filled with hope that we can make better promises and keep them.
My father, who came to this country as a young boy from Italy, will be joining me as my official guest at the Convention. I come for him, who left everything he knew to make a better life for his children, and I come for my own son, in the hopes that I can make his life better. More About Rita...

Rita, how exciting it must be to be at the heart of this truly historic event. Like you, I was impressed amd moved by Sen. Clinton’s speech to the Convention audience and thought her asking her listeners to think about the future thay want for their children as they decide how to vote this year was very effective.
I have always fond the political process both fascinating and a great show. I remember watching the Conventions when they were covered gavel to gavel and were totally unorchestrated. I wonder if you have had the opportunity to interact with any of the really young delegates attending this Convention. I know they’re committed and love the process the way you and I do.
What can we do as educators to get our middele and high school studnets to begin to reflect on the political process and the bigger issues of citizenship and civic involvement?
I agree with your commentary about the brilliance of Hillary’s speech. She was passionate, funny and focused on the future.
The only thing better than Tuesday night’s speeches were last night’s speeches. We saw the Bill Clinton we all know and love last night. This week the Clintons proved why they are still the toast of the Democratic party.
I believe that is in large part due to your efforts and the many others bringing educational reform to national attention that teachers and education have been part of the keynote speeches this week. Joe Biden in particular praised teachers and the hard work of education.
For all of us involved in U.S. education, thank you for your efforts. We are living vicariously through you this week!
